How Estheticians Get Client Testimonials That Fill Your Books

Skincare is deeply personal — and deeply trust-driven. A potential client scrolling for an esthetician isn’t just looking for someone who does facials. They’re looking for someone who understands their skin, their concerns, their goals.

Testimonials that speak to specific skin journeys are your most powerful booking tool.

Why Esthetician Testimonials Convert

People searching for estheticians often have a specific skin concern: acne, hyperpigmentation, aging skin, sensitivity, rosacea. When they see a testimonial from someone who had their exact concern and got results, the decision is easy.

Generic “great facial, so relaxing!” testimonials are fine. Specific skin journey testimonials convert.

When to Ask

After visible results — a client whose acne has cleared, whose dark spots have faded, whose skin looks noticeably different than when they started. That moment of “wow, I’m seeing it” is when to ask.

After a series of treatments — post-peel series, LED series, microneedling series. The investment was larger, the results should be visible.

When a client compliments their own skin in the mirror — they’re looking at their skin glowing post-facial and they say “wow.” That’s your moment.

At rebooking — “I’d love to ask you a quick favor before you go…”

Scripts for Estheticians

In person (post-treatment):

“Your skin looks incredible — I love seeing that glow. Would you be willing to leave a quick review or testimonial? Even just a few sentences about your skin before and after, and what the experience was like. I’ll send you a link right now.”

Text follow-up (24 hours post-facial):

“Hi [Name]! Hope your skin is still glowing today 🌟 If you have 2 minutes, I’d love a short testimonial from you — especially if you want to mention your skin concern and how it’s improved. Here’s the link: [link] Thanks!”

Email for series clients:

Subject: Your skin transformation 💫

Hi [Name],

We’ve been on quite a skin journey together — and look at where you are now! Your [acne/hyperpigmentation/etc.] has changed so much since your first appointment.

Would you be willing to share your experience in a short testimonial? Your story could help someone else who’s struggling with the same thing. [link]

Thank you, [Your name]

What a Great Esthetician Testimonial Looks Like

Weak: “Nice facials, good products, clean studio.”

Strong: “I’ve struggled with cystic acne for 10 years and had basically given up. After 4 sessions of [treatment] with [esthetician], my skin is clearer than it’s been since I was a teenager. She figured out what my skin actually needed instead of just throwing products at it. I’m not exaggerating when I say she changed my relationship with my face.”

Specific condition + duration + treatment + before/after + emotional payoff = booking magnet.

Skin Transformation Photos

If clients are open to it, before/after photos with testimonials are enormously powerful for estheticians. Always get explicit written consent and be transparent about editing (or lack thereof).

Where to Display Esthetician Testimonials

  • Booking page / website — directly adjacent to the book now button
  • Google Business Profile — “esthetician near me” + “facial near me” search
  • Instagram Highlights — create a “Skin Stories” highlight reel
  • Vagaro, StyleSeat, or your booking platform — many have review features
