Occupational therapy outcomes are deeply meaningful but hard to describe without personal testimony. “Improved fine motor skills” is clinical. “My son can button his own shirt now” is something a parent will share with every other parent they know.

Testimonials bridge the gap between clinical language and human impact.

Who Is Looking for OT Services

  • Parents of children with sensory processing, developmental delays, or fine motor challenges
  • Adults recovering from stroke, injury, or surgery
  • Seniors with age-related functional decline
  • Individuals with neurological conditions (autism, ADHD, Parkinson’s)
  • Physicians and pediatricians looking for referral partners

When to Ask

At a functional milestone:

“The progress [patient name] has made this month is incredible. If you’d be comfortable sharing your experience — even briefly — it helps other families like yours find the right support: [link]”

At discharge:

“It’s been a privilege working with you. If you’re open to it, a brief testimonial would help other [parents/patients] who are starting this journey find qualified care: [link]“

What a Strong OT Testimonial Looks Like

“Our daughter was 4 when she started OT with [name] for sensory issues. She couldn’t tolerate certain textures, had meltdowns at mealtimes, and was behind on fine motor skills. After 8 months of weekly sessions, she eats a much wider range of foods, can write her name, and is starting kindergarten this fall. [Name] always explained what she was working on and why. We refer every family we know who has similar struggles.”

Strong elements: specific age and diagnosis context, concrete functional outcomes (eating, writing, school readiness), timeline, explained approach, and referral endorsement.

Consider a Family/Caregiver Portal

OT clients are often non-verbal children or adults with communication challenges. The caregiver or family member writes the testimonial. Make the request to them directly and personally — a form link sent via email or handed at pickup is often effective.
